HAIBUN BY SUJANMO SAROTHI
SUJANMO SAROTHI

Two years ago, a physicist turned career technocrat in Indian Railways had been thinking about the life beyond superannuation, when somehow he chanced upon the adorable Kala Ramesh's "Beyond The Horizon Beyond". A clandestine practitioner of minimal prose à la Hemmingway and Raymond Carver since his college days, he was drawn into her Haikus & Haibuns instantly. "A sacrificial goat/bleeds/the Kali temple/at the rivulet" made him meditative.
He published his first book of Bengali short prose titled "OfThe Green Beneath The Blue" in 1996 and the second "Tycho Brahe's Sky" in 2005.
He has also published around 40 poems - majorly sonnets in various formats(Classical, Curtal, Terza Rima, Villanelle & Pantoum) - in various magazines, which are being compiled in the form of a book of poems. So, in Haibun he finds his first love for minimal prose and twilight-years love for short poems married together.
